IT Project Manager (Scrum. Job Description: The IT Project Manager is accountable for managing the efficient delivery of complex projects from technology, with a high degree of risk and impact. The IT Project Manager controls project initiation, as well as solution delivery to agreed priorities, timelines and budgets, underpinned by appropriate governance. The IT Project Manager is responsible for managing change effectively and completing assignments with enterprise-wide impact. The project objectives will be met via strong interaction with the IT Solutions Consulting and global Technology Application teams and business oriented PMOs/Change and operational functions. Knowledge/Skills: Requires excellent planning, conceptual, consulting, communication and interpersonal skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and management skills, and the ability to interact with senior business and IT management staff. Experience of the project management discipline, including waterfall and agile methodologies, and associated lifecycles, budget tracking, deliverables and controls is essential. Knowledge of business strategy development is required to provide long term planning and to manage the profitability/performance of a major business segment. Leadership and organizational skills are required to develop periodic goals and to manage and motivate team members towards the established goals. Wide technical knowledge (including architectural concepts, software development processes/languages, database management systems and transport capabilities, modern technologies such as SOA and mobile etc.), at least at a high level, is desirable to provide a level of quality assurance over solutions fit for purpose and fit for use. Fund Administration experience including Transfer Agency and Fund Accounting is essential. Major Duties: Works collaboratively across Technology, including Technical Services, but with the IT Solutions Consulting and Technology Application teams in particular, controlling the incoming pipeline and managing the delivery of strategic high quality solutions that satisfy stakeholder, technology and corporate requirements. Works collaboratively with GFS Product Development and the business to develop, implement, and communicate change execution plans to meet both the business and the corporation's strategic objectives. Responsible for governing Technology's compliance with the standard change management process; and ensuring that Northern's Project Management Lifecycle methodologies, standards and control techniques are satisfactorily adhered to within Technology. Responsible for effective management of stakeholder expectations around change management delivery and proactively communicates with the stakeholders of change. Responsible for leading, planning, managing and directing multiple complex projects consisting of one or more project teams. Responsible for tracking project progress with respect to time, budget and demonstrated results. Communicates overall progress to management and assists where schedules and/or scope are modified. Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation and teamwork. Actively manages and mitigates risks in conjunction with appropriate stakeholders. Actively looks for opportunities to improve and/or automate processes. Establishes methods to reduce risk and/or increase audit/compliance. Is pragmatic without compromising strategic goals and governance. Performs additional duties as assigned or requested. Experience: Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least four, typically six or more years of diverse experience in multiple areas of technology project management, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Project Management qualification is essential, along with experience in waterfall and/or agile methodologies. Fund Administration experience.
