Software Engineer (Automation) - Limerick. The role: A vital part of this role is the ability to not only maintain the complex automated systems in use in-house but also to deliver new projects and solutions that ensure a constant rate of continuous improvement is maintained year on year. This involves keeping up with the ever changing technological environment and equipment changes but also requires the skills to deliver seamless upgrades to respond to obsolescence and product changes. You will be working with a highly competent team with strong expertise in many systems working across multiple platforms and systems. You will be required to understand the equipment process which will include motion control data handling as well as integration of many third party systems. Your role will involve developing standard systems to enable your team to consistently deliver world class automated solutions. You will be required to collaborate between the family of sites both in Ireland and abroad in order to leverage learnings from outside the business. You will be encouraged to take on new challenges to develop both technically and professionally within the franchise in order to progress your career. This role is recognided within the organidation as being of key strategic importance in terms of enabling the business to remain competitive and grow market share. You will be responsible for providing technical leadership in the field of Software Engineering with specific ownership for the following: • High level concept design and reviews. • Gamp 5 software development approach. • Automation templates and systems development. • Automation standardisation for software development and validation. • Evaluation and proposals of software solutions from your team. • Developing of strategic relations with third party solution providers. • Vendor management for key strategic partners. • Project management and project management tools and systems development. • Machine Safety and electrical safety standards. • Team mentoring and talent development. • Identification and adoption of industry trends where appropriate. • Troubleshooting techniques and documentation. Interested applicants should have: A minimum qualification of Level 8 B.Sc. or B.Eng. Honours Degree in Automation, Electronics, Mechatronics, Electrical or Software Engineering with a proven track record of leading automated projects and/or leading a team of Automation Engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of all aspects of complex automated systems including PLC ,SCADA, vision systems, robotics as well as a good understanding of MES systems. A solid understanding of most industrial networks as well as an appreciation of machine design and control are essential. You will enjoy problem solving and working through complex projects.
