With a strong commercial mandate, Shannon Foynes Port Company is the estuarial port authority with responsibility for the entire Shannon Estuary. The company has extensive terminal operations, warehousing and distribution networks, based over a number of sites in the estuary. Building on significant growth in all areas of our business and as part of our ambitious plans for increased volume and capacity into the future, we now have an opportunity for an experienced individual to join our team. The Port Services Maintenance Technician is focussed on carrying out mobile breakdown repairs and preventive maintenance on SFPC Plant/Equipment, including port mobile cranes, hydraulic material handling cranes, pilot boats & work boats, large forklifts, unloading hoppers etc. From a base in Limerick and Foynes, work may be required at any of the company’s facilities in the Shannon Estuary, but chiefly Foynes, Limerick and Cappagh, Co Clare. Out of hours work, both planned and unplanned, is a regular requirement. The successful candidate will be required to provide own (van) transport for self and tools, equipment and parts, for which appropriate expenses will be paid. Requirements: The successful candidate will be a qualified Heavy- duty Diesel Mechanic with experience of: In- line and v-type engine configurations ranging in power from 50kw up to 750kw output. Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems. Engine electrics. Heavy plant, including cranes and marine craft. Skills/Experience will be required in: Fault finding, with the ability to find and implement safe solutions quickly. Spare part/stock reconciliation. Computerised Maintenance Management and Permit To Work systems. Welding/fitter training/experience. Use of IT. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience, including working outdoors and on multiple sites. Marine or marine related experience is desirable but not essential.
