Job Title Research Fellow– Cell Biology Science Sfi
Description

BD is seeking the leading Post-Doctoral Research fellow in Genomic Sciences to join our R&D team, to play a leading role in demonstrating the utility of BD’s emerging single cell genomics platforms in new applications.

Based at our new Research Centre Ireland in Limerick, you will explore the applicability of single cell genomics to biopharmaceutical production and characterization. Working with academic collaborators in Ireland, you will demonstrate the feasibility of implementing BD’s single cell genomics and cell selection platforms as tools for improving the biopharmaceutical production processes.

Be the Cell Biology Research Fellow

  • Characterise cell heterogeneity of cell lines used in biopharmaceutical production
  • Perform single cell gene expression experiments
  • Determine the feasibility of using this data to characterise changes in glycosylation and other pathways that influence product quality and yield
  • Perform phenotypic tests to validate insights gained from single cell expression data
  • Support and contribute to applications for external funding
  • Summarize your results in appropriate technical reports and present findings at high profile conferences and publish these in peer-reviewed journals
  • Engage with leading Academic Research Collaborators across Ireland and the US

Be Qualified

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related discipline
  • Experience and expertise in cell culture techniques; experience with Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells strongly preferred
  • Extensive experience in cell biology with particular emphasis in genomics and gene expression studies
  • Demonstrated strong track record of independently designing and executing experiments to achieve project objectives
  • Experience with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is required
  • Familiarity with single cell genomics methods is strongly preferred
  • Experience in functional genomics and/or biopharmaceutical development
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, high dimensional data analysis, Python, and R is a plus
  • Previous experience in writing grant proposals is preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a functionally and geographically diverse environment
  • Substantial domestic travel in Ireland and some international travel to US is required
  • Post-doctoral fellowship position is for a duration of 12 months
