BD is looking for a highly talented Mechanical Technician who will be responsible for providing technical support by working with mechanical engineers to carry out test protocols to meet product requirements for robust designs. As part of an expanding team you will have excellent opportunities to broaden your knowledge and develop your career within a Global business. Be the Mechanical Technician. Develops prototype lab processes and test set-ups. Executes test protocols under the direction of engineering with interfaces to lab equipment and/or data acquisition systems. Maintains pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment in working order to test product within specified requirements and works with lab coordinator and mechanical engineers to maintain current calibration. Maintains cleanliness of R&D lab. Provides support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks such as gathers, maintains, formats, compiles and manipulates technical data, related to laboratory or material test results. Perform qualification testing on lab equipment as needed. Notifies engineer upon recognition of factors that may affect product test results. Application of technical principles and concepts. Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope. Requires application of basic/standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Develops solutions to problems of up to moderate scope and complexity, as assigned, through the exercise of judgment within defined practices and policies for determining appropriate actions. Knowledge of LabVIEW and data acquisition systems are highly desirable. Be Qualified. A combination of equivalent education and experience or a minimum of training beyond high school or secondary school in a technical discipline with more than 6 years relevant experience or a combination of equivalent education and experience. Or a minimum of an Associate Degree with less than 2 years relevant experience. Ability to plan and organise. Ability to work with little supervision and under pressure. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Experience of working in a collaborative engineering environment. Computer literate. The BD Difference.
